Questions on Sion (Spoilers Possible) « Thread Started on Jun 2, 2004, 2:38pm »
Big surprise eh? Well, I do have some questions leftover on my huge stockpile after searching through various Tsukihime sites. Also, since my ability to read Japanese is horrendous at best, that isn't getting me anywhere at all. Thus, I turn to you people, and your wealth of usele... useFUL information!
Hehehe...
Anyway. Basic questions are thus: What is Sion exactly? Is she a Vampire/Living Dead that's hiding her condition, or a Human resisting 'The Change', or whatever.
If possible, I would also like to know how she became friends with Akiha and Satsuki. I just have... no idea in either of those.
In ReACT I assume that, one year later, she still doesn't have a cure and that Warakia is dead-dead. So... has she just been hanging around in Japan for that last year or so?
Any other little tidbits you could provide would be much-much appreciated. I'm trying to develop the character better in my mind, as I am trying to roleplay her on one of the online text games I play. Kinda hard sometimes when you aren't sure whether you're dead or alive at any given moment.

Personally I was under the impression that the vampirism thing no longer became a problem, like probably got rid of once Warakia was eliminated. Reason being since you fight Vampire Sion once during that arc, afterwards which she's not vampiric anymore, and then you fight Warakia.
Perhaps if the parent vampire dies before the change becomes permanent the change can be undone....I don't know, but that was my impression.

Well, that's just as likely, or even more likely, now that I consider it. Vampire Sion's presence in the game is probably just like Warakia's, because they're there doesn't mean they exist. They existed, but that doesn't mean they exist.
This just offers even more questions. She evidently changed, at least for a little bit, during the fight with Warakia. Though if she was still human, she somehow managed to flip from human all the way to Living Dead in a few seconds.
Perhaps she still has Warakia's blood, but with him gone is fully able to control how it effects her? Though I wasn't able to read it, it seemed that he somehow 'forced' the transformation onto her during the battle. Perhaps with Sion and Warakia, it was a battle of willpower. As long as she managed to keep a foothold, the change wouldn't be permanent... or something.

For the impression I am getting, Aoko might be playing around Tsukihime people's subconcious aka dreams using White Ren, so Sion might dreaming up the whole thing.
It struck me that way because some characters is dead (Nero) or technically impossible in Tsukihime's world ( think of Neco Arc) and all of the characters meet White Ren in stage 9.
Sion in my opinion, is a human trying to resist vampirism and when even subdued Wallachia, she is still suffering from it. But since his presence is gone, her pain might be not as much as it used to be, I do recall that she said she wants to do more alchemy research to find cure for her predicament in the end.
Sion is calm and rational but with Shiki around she turns into typical overbearing, pretentious lovestruck young female trying deseperately to conceal her feelings for him. You can say that he makes her feel and talk like human.
Akiha and her share same problem, both of them pine for Shiki's love but did not want to admit it. Perhaps the kinship of supressed feelings makes them understand each other well and resulted in rather unsual friendship.

Hmm... but thinking of a simpler explanation.... Sion and Akiha fought once... and fighting does get people closer. That might be a reason for their friendship....

Hmmm... honestly, from how I would figure it, the fact they both pine for Shiki's love secretly would probably make them worse enemies. Though, I suppose it could be a Ryoko/Ayeka type of thing. You fall in love with the same person, beat each other up, drink sake afterwards.
Anyway, thanks for replying thus far! Even though it doesn't seem (and I'm sorry if I am wrong) that anybody knows for sure, it helps me form a better opinion to hear other people's takes on the story. The only thing I'm still completely in the dark about is Satsuki and Sion's apparent friendship. Satsuki's ending picture is cute too.

Hmmm.
Satsuki also loved Shiki but unable to be honest with it. That can count for something about her friendship with Sion, plus they both suffered from vampirism.
Sion, Akiha and Satsuki unable to express their affectionate feeling for Shiki. That is what makes them knew each other well.

Hmmm. I was actually seeing Sion and Satsuki as the "Homeless Club."
I'm not entirely sure, but Sion doesn't exactly have a home, and Satsuki obviously now doesn't have one, so seeing them on that bench at night-time was funny in that regard.

Now there you go despoiling the inherent cuteness in the picture with such comments~! Ah well... it's still cute, regardless. And there is some truth behind them being homeless, though I prefer to think Sion spends time with Satsuki because she's a friend rather than just homeless as well. Poor Satsuki needs a friend after all...
Ah well. Thank you again for your posts. Even the one about the hot hobo chicks

I think you just have to expect a certain quantity of such posts when you consider how high the geek level is on this board. Its not like we have much else to really discuss half the time besides just stagnating here on summer break.:)
I guess I hadn't really thought about the homeless thing. Though with Sion's outfit quality and Satsuki needing someplace dark I assume they have someplace or other.

Hmmm, that is another quick question that I never found an answer too. How deadly is the sun to a Dead Apostle? Does it burn them, bake them, fry them? Or just give them a really nasty sun burn? Or perhaps moving around in the day is somewhat akin to trying to move around after a week without sleep.
Oh, and yes, I expect such posts. It doesn't mean that I am unable to tease you about it though.

Yes, I would like to know too. It doesn't really say, though Arcueid said Dead Apostles were what were typically thought of as vampires to Shiki in the anime. I kind of find it hard to believe sunlight could kill them though. Otherwise the church could just hunt them down, place a bomb by their bedroom wall during the day, and run.
My guess is its probably a continual debilitating effect on the stronger ones at least. Like being out in the desert at noon or in Antarctica at night would be for a human. It will take a while to kill you but you won't last forever and you won't be at your best.
And sure you can tease us. Just noting general amusement since most people here are hardcore fanboys so it should be expected. Even more hardcore since most of us can't read japanse. I think you're the only person here with a female picture that fits your actual gender.

I'd always thought that Sion might be living with the Tohnos. I can't imagine someone classy like her would submit to living as a homeless person for very long. Plus, I'd imagine the reason Sion's not being hunted by her people is because Akiha has extended her protection to Sion - since Japan is basically Tohno territory, I don't think anyone would dare defy Akiha by coming after Sion in the face of that protection.
