And what makes her different from Ren, other than the fact that white ren talks?
What can she do different from ren?
I would appreciate any answers.

Isn't she like some weird mix of Tatari/Warakia and the real Ren?
Her powers involve making an expansion to Melty Blood possible... *dies*

I don't quite remember but I think it was the more dominant dark side side of Ren brought out with all the manifestations of previously dead characters like Nero at the same time. She basically breaks apart from Ren and claims superiority.
She didn't really have any motives other than to freeze everything over and claim it all as her own, classic ice bitch style. In ReAct she talks to some characters about how real they are and she along with everyone else doesn't seem to care about the details as long as they continue to exist(or feel they do). White Ren also just told Satsuki and maybe one or two other characters(before the battle) to leave her place of snow before she had to deal with them so it's pretty clear she had no grand plan.
I could have been mistaken on some stuff but well it's been months since I read the ReAct summary. Hope this helps.
One more Edit: She basically got her extra powers from Aoko's experiment on Warakia's remains but I'm not sure it actually triggered her appearence.

Also, against the likes of Nero and Nanaya, she says that if she is killed, then they too will disappear. Apparently, they do disappear before the next day begins, which is why all of her clones (plus Mech-Hisui and Demon Akiha) fight Aoko at night.

I'm pretty sure Red Akiha is a Tatari creation too; the fear of an Akiha who has lost control. "Mechanics Hisui" is a much trickier question, however... ^_^; She may or may not be real.
(...admittedly, probably not.)
As for White Ren, I could babble something about her being Aoko's familiar formed from the dreams of Ren and the leftover energy of Wallachia, but since I never actually completed all the stories I'm really not qualified to comment. ^_^ I'm sure someone with more thorough knowledge than I will be able to explain it clearly....

Nope, both Akihas and Mech-HISUI are real. I'm taking a wild guess, but both Reversed Akiha and Mech-HISUI are of evil alignment. (I need someone to translate Mech-HISUI's ending to be sure.)

Hm.. I'll have to disagree with you on the Akiha part.
The 'reversed' Akiha in Melty Blood is in her Kurenaisekisyu form. However, she's not the mindless version of it. In the state of a 'true' Kurenaiskeisyu, that is, when you're completely consumed by the demon blood, your eyes go red as well. (observe my avatar ). It says somewhere in Kohaku's arc; 'The red evil eyes are a sign of one who is possessed'.
The MB version of Kurenaisekisyu Akiha has blue eyes. That means she still retains her ego. Although she does get a bit more... violent in that form. If Tatari had materialized the fear of a demon Akiha, it would probably have been the mindless one. It's more powerful, anyway.
Also, when you play through arcade mode as Kurenisekisyu, you'll notice that before the first stage, she's actually normal Akiha. Then she talks to herself, gets pissed off, and then....

Even Tatari Akiha had the blue eyes. So maybe Watanabe just didn't care to give Akiha red eyes. I like the blue more anyway.

In original MB, demon akiha has a tatari. Thus, tatari Akiha. I don't know about ReAct though.
Edit: Woops, I meant in one of the paths where you fight her. I forgot about the parts where you can also play as demon akiha.

In short, Tatari is the plot device to end all plot-devices.
If only the Dragonball series handled the resurrection of previous villains so tastefully...
But then again, comparing Toriyama with Nasu is the ultimate case of comparing apples and oranges.

Aoko did something to Wallachia's remain and that took form of White Ren. White Ren's basically the selfish alternate ego of Ren that she's been supressing. Talking all she wants, and getting what she wants by force. Most of the characters in Tsukihime have such alternate ego, and I'm sure everyone here knows that they have a desire like that too. So supposedly White Ren is stronger than Ren since there's nothing for her to hold back, but in reality she's not. There's no way the one who was supressing that alternate ego all her life is weaker than the one she's been supressing.
The evil characters are created by White Ren's Power. Although we think Ren=Dream, her power is much more than that. If she's powerful as her original master, she's suppose to be able to extract information from people's mind that even the person forgot about and play with it. The only real alternate characters in the game are Red Akiha, who is able to control her powers, and Vampire Sion who's turning into a vampire because Wallachia's existence is waking up the vampire blood within her. It's hard to say if Mech Hisui is real or not because it was made by Kohaku who turned into a mad scientist from the fear that she was an evil witch, in the first melty blood.
At least that's the way how I see it... Even if you know Japanese, it doesn't give you all the answer just by reading it... You just have to put together the hints that are scattered around.

So you're saying it's ambiguous even in the native tongue? And I thought you were just teasing us...

Excuse me, but is there a difference between demon Akiha and Tatari Akiha?
