General hints & tips from Lurker #246355 (Ignore if you know this info already/ familiar with the game enough/is a SRW fan)
1) To scroll, hold Ctrl first. ^_^
2) Female Main Character (The "Real")- I upgraded her Quick (aka Evade) up 2 bars for better survivability.
3) Shiki does well with a single upgrade in Quick. (Upgrade characters at your own discretion, of course. That's just how I played)
4) In the stages where you have Kohaku and Saber, it's best to always make sure they both stand right next to each other, as Kohaku is relatively weak (>_<), whilst Saber has Support Defend, which blocks one attack targetting everyone's favourite psychotic maid (Especially on their first stage together.)
5) Use of Lucky on bosses is always recommended (unless if they are the runaway types). [Lucky = First Seishin of Female Real. Costs 40] [Lucky = x2 Money for upgrades for those who haven't played SRW before]
6) Try to position Rin so that she can attack the next turn. Putting them too close (eg Right next to the enemy) usually isn't good.
7) Save often (Saving in-game consists of clicking to bring up the menu, then selecting the last option. The first option is "Do you want to Save?" (Yes/No). The second option is "Do you want to return to the Main Screen?" (Yes/No)
8) Holding Ctrl during dialogue allows you to scroll through it faster.
9) To get the Skill Point for stage 5, you can use Rin's 2nd attack to kill the two crows on the rooftop (it has a high reach vertically). If your game crashes when you try and scroll up to attack the crows (like how mine did. Note: Unpatched), you can move Rin closer so that it is still in yor field of vision when you select the attack. Saber's support defense can help in case Satsuki targets Rin.
10) Most skill points can be obtained (if it has a turn number based criteria) if you leave enemies with HP just a bit over 0, so that your counter attack will kill them.
I wish Kohaku could heal herself, and was a bit stronger.
Thanks for the advice! Im quite stuggling one by one. every character is so frail, I had to evade everytime. I played many SRW, but. i guess I just need to memorize what those items for and hidden points.
Im really impressed in this game, the animation is really fluid. almost a pro level, just couple of bugs fix and more additional skills would be nice.

I typed up a relatively long post... then when I clicked reply, it said the thread no longer existed. Stupid Revamping the Forums thing XD
Oh well. Gist of what I typed: I don't know why you get the black screen of death... have you tried reinstalling? Changing to Japanese region? Checking it the folder contains all the files (bmw.exe, data1.dat - data4.dat, config.exe, config.ini, savedata folder, html folder, install.DAT, ogg.dll, some possibly Japanese html page) Sorry I can't be of more help...

cant wait for the patches.
Save save save! XD Works in all SRW games; if you don't like a particular outcome, reload. (If you don't care really about not getting skill points, or characters dying, then it's ok)
Range1 characters should attack enemies that can't hit at Range1, while long-range characters should attack (more often) enemies that are melee only. (I'm stating the obvious, I know ^^;; )
Use Saber all the time! She has high defenses, isn't frail, can Support Defend, has some sword-parry-defending-thing, and she's cute =P
It might actually be better to move Akiha closer rather than attacking earlier in the stage. She needs more Movement range >_<
Yeah, more skills and attacks would be nice. Although more attacks would have meant they'd need to draw/animate more, meaning more time spent, meaning it'll come out in 2008 or so (rough guestimate ^^). Patches for unlockable attacks would be nice.
Hidden, unlockable Caster would be fun. ^_^ (Haven't played Fate Stay Night, so was never really sure what caster looked like until now)
So hard to choose between this and SRW@3... Mechs/Gundam/Explosions/Coolness vs Magic-Fantasy/TypeMoon/Explosions/CuteCoolness
As mentioned before, there's God Finger and VBSR. Anyone see anything else? (Taking this as a SRW perspective) Shiki 2nd attack: Dancougar's sword attack? Akiha: Funnels? (XD) Kohaku's Accuracy/Evade and Defense/Resists(?) boosts: Macross7 song attacks? FemaleMainChar: VBSR -> Jeeg's Mach Drill thing? MaleMainChar: Looks like Sword Strike's sword... although may just be reference to a large beam saber, like ZZ's. Rin's 2nd attack: Gunbuster??

The female main character own all, just get some upgrade and she can avoid almost all attack. The only problem is that she run out of ammo and EN (she didn't even take a hit).

I wish Kohaku could heal herself, and was a bit stronger.
Additional tips:
Akiha has a unique ability that makes her invincible so long as she has 5 EN. Hence why I gave her the "+morale whenever someone attacks her or she attacks" ability and generally put her in the front line. The dumb AI always try to attack her when they can get countered.
I gave Shiki the "+5 morale on deployment" ability so he can use his 110 attack very soon. I like placing him behind Akiha where for some reason, short-range units run *past* Akiha just to try and hit Shiki. Naturally, everyone else is out of harm's way and ready to pick off the short and mid-ranged units that the Tohno pair have softened up.
Saber has a unique ability where she absorbs Magic damage to heal herself (requires her to Defend) for a mere 5 EN. Especially effective against Crows, Psychic Dead and Caster. Her Support Defend is explained in the above post.
Kohaku should be equipped with Healing Kits (or whatever they're called) to fully heal herself in emergencies. Generally there should be no need to though, unless you're trying to make her a Slicing Legend. The dumb AI don't really try to hit her when I play.
Rin has Support Attack. Requires her and another ranged character to be standing next to each other with both not having been used this turn. Let the other character attack a common target they can both reach (factor in obstructing units affecting range). Rin will provide supporting fire. She can then attack something herself on her go.
Now if only I knew what more of the abilities actually do...

Thanks for the tips.
Sure. On the 'upgrade' page, there are 4 sections. First section is Permanent Stats boosts, each point requiring 10 FP. Look on the right hand side, just under the character's "Penalty" stat. There are 4 'headings' there written in white. Click on the 2nd one to get to the Abilities page, where you can purchase new abilities. Incidentally, 3rd and 4th sections require BP instead of FP and are fairly self-explanatory.
I had a friend translate a small portion of the 18 abilities you can purchase. As you can see, they are written out in 3 columns. I'll refer to them by their position on this upgrade page.
Column 1, 2nd entry: You have a small chance of 'retaliating' before the enemy attacks you in their phase.
Column 1, 3rd entry: Support Attack. Number of support attacks you can do is decided by the level of this skill. Refer to my previous post on how this ability works (Rin has it from the start).
Column 1, 4th entry: Support Defence. Saber innately has this, and will take a hit (while Defending, so half damage) for an adjacent ally. Number of times she can do this per turn depends on level of this skill.
Column 2, 1st entry: Increases max SP dependant on Level. Not yet implemented.
Column 3, 1st entry: +5 morale on deployment
Column 3, 3rd entry: +1 morale each time either you attack or someone attacks you. Stacks on top of regular morale boosts. Ideal for 'tanks' and 'dodgers' like Shiki and Akiha.
Column 3, 4th entry: +2 morale each time combat damage is dealt, either by you or to you. Ideal for tanks with lots of HP like Saber and Takumi (super side main chara).
That's all I know so far. All items you receive are Healing Kits in the first 6 stages and items are equipped on the 3rd 'page', accessed by clicking on the button next to the one that gets you to all the upgrade pages.
I've gotten my friend into BMW so hopefully he'll translate some more abilities for us later.

Couple tips I have:
Giving Hit & Run skill to Akiha is great since Akiha can attack-move like Rin can. Normally, she can't move after attacking, often being left behind.
Giving Revenge to Shiki or RR main char, (forgot her name) then sending them into the middle of the enemies after using concentration. Revenge will do bonus dmg when counter attacking, and concentration, with 1 or 2 EVD upgrade, will allow them to solo the map.
Giving Attacker will do even more additional damage, so adding this to your ace RR character would be most efficient.
Then again, the game at the moment is too easy to go indepth like SRT series. My difficulty says hard, but I got through stage 6 without using any upgrades, items, or restarts. Hopefully, it gets more indepth as game progresses.

Mmm, so based on what you said about Rin and Akiha, the "Hit and Run" ability is the bottom entry of the first column on the "Ability purchase/upgrade" page, which costs 70 FP, yes?
Could you tell us where the "Revenge" and "Attacker" abilities are and about other abilities that we haven't discussed previously on this thread?
I've only encountered SRT 'abilities/skills' in Lord of Elementals (Masou Kishin side game) and I don't remember most of them. I've only played old SRT games (2,3,EX,4) which didn't have these abilities. I think I recognise "Parry" though, which is the top left ability on the upgrades page and e.g. Saber innately has it?
Some characters have abilities that can't be purchased. So far, Rin, the main characters and Kohaku have such abilities. What do they grant them?
And yes, the game is far too easy at present once you get used to how the AI thinks. I get the feeling the "difficulty" displayed doesn't actually affect anything in these first 6 stages - i.e. the Skill Points feature isn't implemented yet. We'll see how things turn out in future patches.

Ok, we've figured out most of the Abilities now! As before, given by position on upgrade page.
Column 1 1st ability: Potential. Lower your HP, more Dodge/Hit/Crit Chance/Tough
Column 1 2nd ability: Counter. Chance to pre-emptively 'retaliate' before enemy
Column 1 3rd ability: Support Attack. Still not too sure how it activates, but you attack with your adjacent ally if both of you haven't used your turn yet and you can both reach the same target.
Column 1 4th ability: Support Defence. Take a hit for your ally next to you - only in Enemy Phase.
Column 1 5th ability: Cooperative Attack. Improves your Support Attack. 100% Crit maybe?
Column 1 6th ability: Hit and Run. What Rin starts with, what Akiha could really do with.
Column 2 1st ability: SP Up. Higher Max SP - not yet implemented.
Akiha: The equivalent of an AT field... stops all attacks for 5 EN
Saber1: Magic Resistance A grade - stops any magic attack for 5 EN - can absorb too sometimes
Saber2: Extra Tough at the cost of EN - not yet implemented
Kohaku: "Something like a Commander?" - not yet implemented
Shiki: +Hit/Dodge/Crit as you gain morale (!!!)
Haruna1: Prophesy. Essentially Getta Vision at 33% chance (guaranteed dodge if this kicks in, requires high morale)
Haruna2: At high morale, ignores height restrictions to movement (!!!) --------------------------------------------
OMG, I never realised some of these characters can become unbelievably imbalanced... Then again, the game really hasn't tossed us anything challenging so far, so let's hope these super abilities mean we'll get some decent challenges in Hard mode.
