I'm having trouble running Tsukihime and was wondering if anyone could help. I try to install the game, but after I select the directory to install it in, I get this error message. The thing is, I don't know what the error is since I'm running an English OS so it displays everything in gibberish. =/ Any help would be appreciated. I'm running Windows2k.

I didn't run this is in Windows 2k, but I'm pretty sure this works fairly universally if you can get as far as you've gotten. I had basically the same problem.
What you need to do is go to the CD and find the Tsukhime folder. Then drag that over to your hard drive manually. That should basically install it for you. Though I couldn't get things like music to work so it might not have worked entirely correctly. I'll have to try it in a normal install now that I have japanese support installed...
You can play the entire game though that way and get everything saved. Just note all the japanese in the game will appear as the same kind of random characters if you have no japanese support.

Thanks for the tip. I actually got it working by changing the regional locale settings. I thought I had it set up correctly before, but I was wrong. That error message is actually an install prompt, but it gives you no indication like a bar or what have you to show progress. The installer locking up was actually it installing the game, not the thing crashing. At least, that's from what I could gather based on reading the hiragana/katakana. My kanji is pitiful. ^^;; Thanks for your help, though.

Hmm, really? I wonder if we had the same problem. I'm almost sure mine broke completely on installation and other people seemed to have issues elsewhere.

Well, I kept getting prompts like "Tsukihime foruda ni inusutaru o shimasu ka" and I kept clicking yes. Then at some point the installer locked up, so I just left it there for a few minutes. Eventually, I got another window that said it was done and had a folder called 月姫 that had the arc.sar file and all the .dll and .sav files in it.

Copy everything in the tsukihime directory to your hard drive, then set win98 compatibility in the main exe's properties. Should work fine from then on.

Also you need to rename the executable in order to make it properly run (the exe name is tsukihime.exe but written in japanese) in a non japan OS.
