I don't really think it has any direct relation to the main story other than there being some similar themes.

Somebody might be able to come up with the argument that the apartment is actually the looping world or the void and/or that student A = Bazett or Angra, but that's stretching it. Kaede also said that the real student A would come back as a better person, so maybe it's hinting that Bazett ends up living happily ever after or Angra turning out to be an pretty decent guy in the end.

Or maybe Kinoko just wanted to make a plain old ghost story and show us how annoying Kaede is?

I'll be stabbing at straws here so help me out or something.....

Look at the various elements within the story and how they relate to Shirou and gang:
First of all, its a ghost story with spirits and the like. (Heroic Spirits). Most of which have had a tragic past (parents fighting), and a certain request/wish that they want fulfilled (please push the button mister).

Then you notice that this may be the case the FIRST time you play through the game.

Later on, you might be thinking of a certain Master: Bazette. And notice how she could be the little girl..... who came back (Thank you Rin) and how she suffered through a lot (the war, 'nuff said), and about a wish.... to live.

I think that was a very good summary of the main HA story. Told in a very inventive way. Oh yeah, Mr. A.... might be.... AVENGER..... think about it.... <grin>

Hatred for society due to how he was treated..... check.
How he repeatedly grants the request of the injured girl.... check.
How he disappears in the end..... check.

It might be a bit stretching but I can see how it might work. Something in the line of Fate's overall theme... someone being able to help someone. Avenger is the very opposite of all that, some who got brutally killed instead of being helped. Yet even Avenger was able to help someone (Bazette). But in this case, isn't Avenger actually like the "Little Red Riding hood" instead of Mr. A.? He's the one who couldn't get get help in his life.

But quoting Kaede several lines later:

"Mr. A went on a journey of self-discovery! It's a wonderful something! He'll come back one day when he becomes a big man!
How dare you make up a weird reason for the disappearance as somebody as cool as A! You're rotten to the core, Mitsuzuri Ayako!

Of course this is a fabrication of Kaede not to scare herself, but is this indicating that Mr. A will one day return? Who is Mr. A representing? Kotomine who was evil like him, returned as Karen? Avenger who didn't care about anything, returned to save Bazette? The real Emiya Shirou who was gone through out the game, to one day return as Archer? Servants in general who were unsatisfied with their life, returned to make things better?

There are a lot of parallels between A and Bazett though.

A's social relations = noisy parents (other Servants) and little girl (Avenger)
A just moving in = Bazett just arriving
Bad relationship with parents = Bad relationship with the Association
A feeling guilty (it was his fault) and going insane from not saving the little girl = Bazett feeling like she had to save Avenger at the risk of her own sanity
A being alive while the girl is dead = "the dead can't bring back the dead"
Long hallway = stairway to reverse moon and beasts
The little girl entering the room = Angra confronting Bazett
Which would mean that A returning could also be Bazett returning to her homeland or the Association after getting back up on her feet in Fuyuki.

The best fighting scene in FHA imo :

Agreed. It just barely beats out the end, IMO, and it's probably my second or third favorite fight scene in both Fate games. Thanks for it! Beats booting up the game and replaying it everytime you want to see it!

Man, Fate constantly impresses me with its style. I wonder how many novel games there are out there that use CG's like Fate does? Love it, thanks Stassy.

I finished 2 versions of this scene, this one was with HyperCam2 in Xvid4 codecs (30 fps), the other one with Camtasia encapsuled codec (20fps). The 2nd version was of better quality, but resulted in a huge 320 Mo file which I had to encode again with Xvid4 using VirtualDub AND reduce size by half size to get approx 30 Mo.
I posted the 1st version because the "blur" effect from compression fit better for the action, the 2nd version miss several frames that unfortunately break some key actions (such as Saber avoiding Archer's arrow in the air), but I you want I can post the 2nd video.

Also this is my favorite fighting scene because the one at the last scene is too long (the classic show-all-your-main-char-and-let-they-talk at the last RPG boss stage), the one with Saber vs Avenger is too short (though very well done), and Bazette vs Lancer is too obvious (from a shounen type perspective).

What exactly is this? I know its the symbol used in the title but what is its place n the story? Reminds me of Bazette's Fragarach.

Just complete speculation here, but I have a feeling that it's class specific. Shirou summoned Saber and the command mantra sorta' looks like an abstract representation of a sword. For Rin and Archer, the command mantra resembles a type of bow (well, at the very least an arrow). Bazette and Avenger's looks like a double-bladed weapon, which can be a metaphor for hurting yourself when you attack or vice versa. Very "Avenger"ish.

...does anyone else think that Shirou's command mantra also looks like a laughing lion or other large feline?
