How Ciel was named
When Nasu Kinoko (writer of Kara no Kyoukai, Tsukihime and some of Kagetsu Toyha) was naming his characters, He looked up some french phrases for name of Ciel
And
he came up with phrase 'Larc De Ciel', meaning 'Bow of Heaven'.
So Nasu San used Ciel, which should mean Bow, as Ciel's name. (in the game she throws a lot of stuff)
Several months later
some kid speaking said 'hey is your character's name heaven?'
and Nasu San said 'What the hell are you talking about her name means bow'
and
he realized he screwed up his whole story
in japanese word order is totally different. (ex. Kara- Emptiness no - of Kyoukai - Border Kara no Kyoukai - Border of Emptiness not 'Emptiness of Border' But in frech Larc - bow de - of Ciel - heaven Larc de Ciel - bow of heaven)
well
Nasu San just decided to stay screwed up and kept using Ciel as his evil lady's name.
Why are there no story of Satsuki in the tsukihime?
Satsuki is like, as famous as Ciel over there.
but why are there no story of Satuki in the Tsukihime?
so some of Satsuki fans called Nasu San one day and asked the question.
he told that 'Satsuki's story was supposed to be in Kagetsu toyha, but eh.. we were slackin and we decided to put Satsuki in Melty Blood'
so the fans called the Watanabe production
they told them that 'we had Satsuki's story written down. eh.. but the story map was full... and we couldn't put Satsuki in there... ' (if you play the story mode of Melty Blood you'll understand)
so thats the reason why satsuki was not in kagetsu toyha nor melty blood.
but shes gonna show up in melty blood react!
Kohaku and Hisui twin
Actually they weren't thinking about writing the Kohaku storyline in the Tsukihime.
Her evilness ran out in the Hisui's endings.
but fans who played the trial asked them if theres any kohaku story in the tsukihime.
Nasu San was touched by that short question, and told employee(...?) to work full time. (for about 3 days to draw about 60 pictures and 600 pages)
They suceeded in completing Kohaku story before the release,
but they had to pay part of the income for the hospital afterward.

Very interesting facts!
But "arc-en-ciel" means "rainbow" in french, and in a literal translaction means "arc in the sky"(arc for the semi-circle form, not for the bow as a weapon). In this case Ciel is more accurately translated as sky, without religeous references. Ciel means both sky or heaven depending of the context , and in this context is a refernece to the sky.
I always thought that Ciel name together with Arcueid name (for short just "Arc") was a "hidden" reference to L'Arc~En~Ciel J-pop group (similar to Takada Yuzo's Sazan Eyes-Southern All Stars reference)
