After reading the RPG thread and Yuenyi Runa's reworking of Mage: the Ascension, I was struck by the similarities between Tsukihime/Fate and the World of Darkness.
For example, the Marble techniques in both Tsukihime and Fate are very reminiscent of how magic is described in mage; reworking probablilities in your favor. Alayashiki reminds me of Mage's consensual reality, and yokuseiryoku & the effects of messing with Alayashiki too much sounds alot like Paradox.
For those who are familiar with the WoD, what similarities and/or differences do you see between the two universes?
(BTW, great work on the RPG mechanics, Runa. If there's one universe that deserves to be made into a WoD module, it's Kinoko-land.)

Care to share the link to said forum? I'm quite intrigued.

Thanks for noticing.
Actually, I pointed out a few of those similarities when I debuted on these Boards, too! ^_^
But the similarities only make the differences even more profound--while VtM/VtR (new WoD) uses Stokerian vampires, Tsukihime is really something else all together! Very unique, indeed.
And, on a humourous note, one of my players intends on trying to Summon a Servant outside of the bounds of the Grail War--is he fails, he wants to at least have a Servant-like Ether Construct. And he has the ability to make Artifacts. Yes, Fate/Stay Night has made its mark!
And Mage's "Dream" Background actually contacts the Jungian Subconscious Mind of Humanity--Alaya, by Nasu's reckoning. So there are quite a few similarites, indeed~!

I'm sorry for double-posting, but I have to share this.
I heard from daimonth that Nasu actually played White Wolf and used stuff from his chronicles when creating his stories and those works were offshoots of his campaign!
I don't know if this is speculation or not, but it would expain a lot of the quirks and things I noticed in setting. And if this is indeed true....
THEN I'VE BEEN DOING EXACTLY WHAT NASU'S BEEN DOING FOR THREE YEARS NOW!!!!!!

World of Darkness is too agnsty to produce results like Tsukihime and Fate. KT was just years and years of pent up frustration vented out in a single LSD trip of a game.

The human element of WW has scarred me for a very very long time.... This is the reason that I still feel hatred toward WW.

Heh. Angsty goths* and army twinks are what made me stop playing WW games. And oddly enough, Tsukihime made me pick up the books again.
*I shouldn't be one to complain, though. I was mostly a Wraith player, back in the day... n.n;;

If nothing else, Arcueid Brunestud fits that description perfectly, totally blowing the Romanian Stoker stereotype.
Edit: And in belated answer to a question Banquo posed a while back, yes, you can freely use Shiroko in the RPGs.
