 Tsuikihime for the PSP ?
« Thread Started on Jan 29, 2006, 10:37am »

I was randomly looking around for stuff when I found these sites:

http://ameblo.jp/pspsp/archive-200408.html

http://pspsoftware.ddo.jp/wiki/?%C6%B0%B....%B1#content_1_3

I can't read japanese but it looks like a walkthrough of some kind to put Tsukihime onto the PSP, as well as an article on a link in the second about "ONScripter for the PSP".

Does anyone know more?

There are lots of doujin games for the psp. I'm not surprised some people actually made their own tsukihime psp game or did a port from pc. I know that there are many sites with tons of psp doujin games. Just download them into the psp and play.

Those are more like tutorials on how to convert the actual game onto PSP, rather than a simple download.

Here's one for Fate / Stay Night.

It seems like a lot of work, but I would like to try it out...!

My progress report on trying to make Fate work on my PSP:

- Spent 6 hours last night.
- Extracted all images, bgm, sound effects, and scenarios. Easiest part.
- Converted/resized all images, bgm, sound effects, and scenarios. Need some software knowledge and patient trouble shooting.
- Ran a test to see if I can actually run the game with the converted files on Windows: It works.
- Downgraded my PSP to ver 1.50
- Copied all the files, font, and necessary files on the PSP.
- Tried to load the game: It doesn't not work OTL

I think I'm pretty much down to finding a better loading program or tweak my version of PSP firmware.

OMFG

"Fate is running on my PSP!"

The last thing I needed to do was to have two boot programs in a separte folder, one main and another to load. Now I just need to figure out a way to fix the fonts and image zooming out...

I'll try to write a revisted tutorial when things settles down!

... You should choose a better pic for showing the game, EvoSpace. I prefer seen Saber than... Shinji... :P And nice Saber's plush you had behind the PSP... ;D

... BTW Tsukihime & Fate today, maybe Melty Blood in a nearby tomorrow? So my joke in the topic http://nrvnqsr.proboards20.com/index.cgi....read=1130447190 wouldn't be a joke anymore? :o Wow...

The file size will come down to about 250mb, more or less depending on the quality.

I'm still trying to get the right size of the images since their recommended size of 45% is too small...

Hrm.

If Tsukihime(and Fate, and Hollow Ataraxia, and KT) gets ported onto te PSP, IT WILL SELL.
That is a very shocking thought.

I did a few calculations and scaled some screenshots to the PSP's resolution. 45% should be about right, which kinda' surprised me how it seemed closer to 25% on your picture. In any case, the scaling still allowed the text to be legible, though the kanji starts getting scrunched a bit.

I think this is a great proof of concept with the port of ONScripter to the PSP. However, I'm kinda' wondering if this is more of a novelty and less of a practicality. If you can get the fonts fixed, how easy does it read, EvoSpace? I don't own a PSP, so I wouldn't really be able to test this out so much, but with the smaller size of fonts and a smaller screen, I can imagine reading the text of a visual novel may cause a bit of eyestrain just by nature of the fact you'll be reading a novel on a (relatively) small screen. It's 16:9, so you get something like a 30~35% more horizontal room than a 4:3 display, and your text seems to be wrapping that way.

This is more generally me having doubts about visual novels on handhelds in general rather than this specific case. Even if I had a PSP, I'd still probably prefer a PC version because a PSP version is pretty much just a scaled down version.

Oh, and Emag. Novel games and fighting engines work on completely different levels. And I'm pretty sure that Melty Blood doesn't run on NScripter, or at least run the battle portions of it on it.

That's pretty interesting. If I had a PC and Fate or Tsukihime, I would attempt the same thing. However, while I know how to use the machines, I am no good at grasping their inner workings or doing weird tricks with obscure programs. Windows is hard enough for me as it is. Plus, doing all of that resizing and extracting seems like so much hard work.
