Okay, somehow retrying it on 45% worked this time. Wasted time scaling images from scratch twice, but now I'm happy~~ ^___^

Here's the list of things you need to do:

Before you start...
- The game will not run all the way to the end. We rely on the programmer of fate_converter.
- Your PSP firmware needs to be 1.50
- For advanced user only. You need to know what programs to use for the simple extraction and file conversions. Its too much trouble and not safe to explain it to someone who doesn't know at least that...

Required programs
Susie Plug-ins.
http://elku.at.infoseek.co.jp/other.html

Nscriptor Tools
http://www.nscripter.com/

fate_converter ver_20060120 or the latest one
http://www.geocities.jp/pdagames2000/

Onscripter for PSP
http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/onscripterpsp.shtml

PBP setting
http://pspupdates.qj.net/2005/07/pbp-setting-18-for-psp.html

1. Install Fate in your computer. Make sure it runs.

2. Extract images from bgimage.xp3 and put them in the folder "bgimage". Covert them into JPG, 45% the size. Run (bgimage_1byte.bat) and change the file names to english. Delete (bgimage_1byte.bat). total of 1457 files.

3. Extract image from image.xp3 and put them in the folder "image". Convert them into JPG, 45% the size. Run (image_1byte_rename.bat) in the folder and change the file names to english. delete (image_1byte_rename.bat) total of 1450 files.

4. Extract image files from fgimage.xp3. Convert them into PNG keeping the transparency. Resize the PNG to 45%. Convert the PNG to BMPs using png2abmp in Nscriptor tools. *Make sure you get 2027 files at the end. If png2abmp errors out, delete the png that were converted to bmp already and run it again. run (_fgimage_rename.bat ) and change the file names to english. Convert the BMP into JPG. put them into a folder called "fgimage".

5. extract .ogg files from bgm.xp3. Convert the .ogg files into mp3s. 96kbps 44.1khz. Delete the ogg files. Put them in a folder called "bgm". 43 files.

6. extract .ogg & wav files from sound.xp3. Convert the .ogg file into mp3. Lower the quality for wav. 22khz stereo. Put them in a folder called "sound" 456 files.

7. extract all the files in data.xp3. run "セイバーシナリオ生成.bat". a file called "0.txt" will be created. Run ”Nスクパッチ.exe" and a new "0.txt" file will be creted. Open "0.txt" and 'replace all' the "BMP" into "JPG"

8. Move the 3 folders fgimage, bgimage, images into one folder. Run the nscriptor tool, (nsaarc.exe). choose that folder to create a "arc.nsa" file.

9. copy a TrueType Japanese font into your game directory. MS Gothic or anything. rename it to "default.ttf"

10. Open PBPutility. Load EBOOT.PBP inside Onscriptor for PSP. you can change icon0.png (144x80) to your favorite picture (Not required) . Save for PBP 1.5. unclick copy files in same directory. Save folder: Your parental directory. Name: EBOOT.PBP. Save. Two folders should be created.

Finally move the files you've worked on into the PSP
File structure should look like this...

PSP/Game/ONS
/bgm
/sound
EBOOT.PBP
arc.nsa
icon0.png
0.txt
default.ttf

PSP/Game/ONS%
EBOOT.PBP

Access your memory stick, cross your fingers, and run the game!

And, will it work with Tsukihime as well or do we need other stuff? :P

Yeah, the fonts work fine. The text is small but its clean and readable.

I haven't tried yet but I would think Tsukihime will be easier and complete since it's more primitive. You probably don't need to convert the script, only difference is that you record the CD-tracks into mp3.

Configure the settings on the Plug-in. It's set to Hollow Ataraxia on default.

BTW... Kohaku on the Go. ;D

... Nice, EvoSpace! Like Chaos & BD said, it give the envy to own a PSP!

... But... I could hardly imagine myself playing Tsukihime or Fate in a subway, during a busy period, when there's coming an H scene, the other passengers would see me like a freaky hentai! XD

Well, you're already extracting all the images and replacing them with smaller versions. Why not swap out the more questionable images with something else while you're at it?
... Good idea, Jseabolt! Can remplace those with some kitten's pics or some plush's pics... Nah, it looks worse that way... -_-;

... Impossible, in busy period French's subway are nearly saturated like the japanese's one! :P And they're less courteous than the japanese's too! Anyway it was only a thought, a thought... ;D

It's not surprising, really. Porting a PC game to a console usually involves even more than that.

As I understand it, the only messing with the firmware is if you need to downgrade it to 1.5. Shouldn't screw anything up too badly.

You could brick your psp by not doing the eboot properly when adjusting it

Maybe because you doesn't have enough free space in your hdd? :P

Joke aside, I got this message when my computer was running memory consuming applications or game, I just had to kill some processes to make the extraction done.
The file you see that has a name saying $$$file protected$$$ is just a text file that the devs put in to warn those who try to have a peek in the xp3 archive, but it is nothing but a text file warning (unlike Sony rootkit)

For info, I use 4 plugins for Suzie to extract and preview all file, but only 3 in fact are needed for extract only : ax_xp3.spi, axmbp.spi, if_tlg.spi and ifex3.spi.

And for the people who fear that they can be seen playing pervert game in subway, I will just answer with this : this is an advertisement for porn game on psp that claim that you can have an "adult life" everywhere, no shame! :P

K i manage to convert all the stuff but still stuck at the

8. Move the 3 folders fgimage, bgimage, images into one folder. Run the nscriptor tool, (nsaarc.exe). choose that folder to create a "arc.nsa" file.

Because it doesn't read the folders and self close when you select save arc file

You're almost there...
the folder should look like this:

<random folder name>
/fgimage (2027 files, in English)
/bgimage (1457 files, in English)
/image (1450 files, in English)
