I thought Sakura was always Rider's master, but that Shinji was bullying her into having Rider do as HE wished. Thus, he was participating in the war by proxy.
Sakura has talent and power. Shinji, if I recall, has none at all.

... If the anime follow the Fate or UBW's script, i'm afraid that Rider won't show longer... And the worst is in the planning of the seiryus casting, the one who play Rider didn't get very much line... It's unavoidable now...

I can't wait to see this episode...Finally we are going to see Rider in action, i really hope your voice sounds awesome...i am hoping for a low tone kind of voice kinda like a high school professor or something like that

Well, here's something I've been pondering. Doesn't Rider also get defeated very early on in Heaven's Feel? I mean, that's what Moonlit World's summaries have always led me to believe. Perhaps she will indeed be defeated early on in the series by either Saber or Caster, thus fulfilling the early portion of all three scenarios, and then once the Evil Sakura stuff begins to flare up (and after episode four, I am absolutely convinced we'll be seeing that side of her at some point), she'll be brought back then towards the latter half (quarter?) of the series a la Heaven's Feel. I mean, honestly, Rider's likely one of the most popular Fate characters around just behind Saber & Rin, so I don't think the producers would really be so dense as to just toss away one of their key audience draws as mere cannon fodder (and by adding even that one element of Heaven's Feel, they could easily do it while remaining true to the game).
As for her not having that many lines, I've always been under the impression she wasn't a very talkative character anyway. A secondary character that just plain doesn't speak a lot (and would quite likely have a pretty lengthy stretch in the middle of the series of just not being there) could easily have only few lines and survive the entire series just fine.

Given that she's voiced by Yuu Asakawa, I don't think we have anything to worry about. Sakaki in Azumanga Daioh, Nagi in Boogiepop Phantom, it's pretty much a lock for Rider to sport a low, masculine yet sultry voice.

You mean like the raspy sounding "woman" jp voice in Soul Calibur 3? "UUuuuuuuurrr....kuso!" XD
Actually, that would suit Rider. That voice was so deep it scared me. It was deeper than mine at some points, and I have a voice that is often described as deep.

from what i read in moonlit rider is probably the only servant who survive in HF, so i don't think she die early. she might've been beaten early, but i read that she team up with shiro

Shinji is controlling rider through a command mantra in a book. He sucks. He basicly did what Shirou has done to Saber's stats. Except he lacks a good relationship with his servant. So fail fail fail.
But yeah, Rider bites the dust real quick. I'd like her to stick around but at the very least I want her cool death via Excalibur. Not that BS unworthy death in UBW.
Love this episode ! thanks for the pic, let me try some captions for them. From Top left to right
1.At first I thought Rin meant to destory even the class room, but actually in this episode she just opened the door and blast at Shirou
2.Shirou's table bite the dust, he ran out of the room, where Rin was waiting, Rin ask him to surrender.
3. They both heared a scream, and rushed to find the student, found one with no physical wound but was in mortal danger due to drained life force, Rin is chanting to treat her, Shirou protected Rin from Rider's thrown weapon.
4. Shirou run out of the building and sense Rider might be behind the Archery Club, enter the wood behind the archery club, heard Shinji's laughter, Rider appears and tried to cut his throat but missed. Thats Shirou's blood after he touch the wounds on his throat.
5. Rider~~~ love her voice acting, fit perfectly.
6.Shirou debating whether to use Command to call Saber or not, but deciding since he can still move and do something, he will not call saber yet. Rider thrown her weapon at Shirou again, but was deflected by Shirou's strengthen Table Leg +1, Shirou said she cannot compare to other servants and start to run toward the edge of woods. Rider caught up and thrown Shirou up...
7. Rider is not happy about Shirou's previous comment and decide to.....correct him. (not quite sure about this part)
8.Rin use Gandr to stop Rider and free Shirou. Rider retreated.
9.Shirou ask Rin if she wants to continue the fight. Rin said we will stop for today.... then ask Shirou to go to her house for treatment.
10. Rin was surprise by Shirou's regen, but warn Shirou not to depends on it, since it will cost Saber mana to do so (no body know the nature of the regen yet)
11. Saber think Shirou is late... Taiga said he probably went to part time. Saber already can tell what food Sakura is cooking by smell..... her true face is showing up next episode
12. Shinji and Rider. I am sorry, but even after Fate/HF I still cannot say anything good about this guy. I hope he met his end in the worst possible way.
13.The missing archery club captain. caption 12 repeat again.
14. Shirou told Rin about his father and his attitude toward "Magic", Rin got angry that His father choose to be a father rather then a magician, and thought about her father who chooses to be a magician and attend the Grail War and died)
15 Saber in waiting... Cute, nothing much to say.
16.Archer and Shirou's first exchange... In my opinion this is the best part of this episode. too much to translate so ....
17. Saber woke up when shirou came back. And said she is glad Shirou is alright.
18 Shirou think about what Archer said.
Next Episode. Rin met Sakura in Shirou's place Rin and Shirou on school's top floor (the usual lunch place) Taiga was surprise at how much Saber can eat when she get "serious" Rin trying to dispell the spells around the school yard. Saber asks for one more bowl of rice.....
Can't tell if Rider will active the Shirne next episode or not.

I've only seen the raw but Rider is beautifully voiced an animated in this ep. There really isn't much more for me to say about Shinji that I havent already. Other than I'd love to see a brutal animated death scene.
