Hollow VIII: VS « Thread Started on Feb 12, 2007, 9:08am »
For some reason, I got the motivation to do this again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had the feeling. That by doing this, there could finally be a beginning.
....I am walking up this familiar hill. The light of the moon is sharp, and by looking at it, my eyes were slightly blinded. It might be because tonight, the stars were dark, or maybe the moon just happened to be close.
Below the tranquil empty sky, so close that I could touch it if I stretched my arm out, two silhouettes waited for our arrival.
"A Servant." Saber reacts instantly. She runs in front of me to guard me, and readies her invisible sword. I,
"We meet again, Servant Saber. No, rather, for you, this is our first encounter."
Stunned, I stared at the magus.
"....Were you the only one to come? I have no idea of your intentions, but dealing with one Servant is all the better for us. The other Servants have already been defeated. Now, I shall defeat you and check the king."
"!" Sparks run through Saber's body. The overflowed fighting urge meant her gut told her that was no lie.
"You, defeated, the other Servants?" "....No. The remaining ones are you and your Master, and the Einzbern Master and her Servant. Once I defeat you, I will plan my way through the Einzbern castle and obtain the Holy Grail."
Saber's fighting urge had already switched to hostility. She acknowledged that woman as a complete enemy, and is now waiting for me, who is behind her, to give her orders.
....That is, "Destroy our enemy".
But, my line of thought is frozen from surprise. Forgetting to breathe, I am looking at the scenery ahead.
So, there really was a new Master. So, there really was someone trying to continue the Heaven's Feel. So, she really did exist in this city.
She isn't an illusion. But it doesn't make sense for her to not be one. It doesn't match. There are too many contradictions. And, that's right. If that woman is really an actually existing person, then what's beside her,
(sound of materializing)
"....Finally my turn to shine huh. Revenge match time, let's give it everything we got, Master."
...should be the 8th Servant.
"Wha....who, you are...a Servant..?" Saber's surprise is warranted.
The Servant that made his appearance, was a "something" not a somebody. One that with a sense of presence to the point of aberration, and a lack of realism to the point of aberration. ...Just looking at it was terrifying. To be to talk to that "something", to be with it, to empathize with it, is not humanely possible.
"Allow me to introduce ourselves. I am the Master dispatched by the Association, Bazett Fraga McRemitz. He is my Servant, Avenger."
The faceless silhouette, Avenger, grinned. He didn't even have an expression, but that expression of his emotions was more than obvious.
"Mano-a-womano fight. Don't get in the way Master. I'm a good match with Saber. I can get up to a good point by myself without any stinking support."
"....Very well, but remember to not forget to pull back. It's impossible for you to finish off Saber. At least fight up to the point where she has to use her Noble Phantasm."
A thunk resounds by Bazett's feet. She dropped the bag she was carrying, and from it, a grey-colored sphere rolled out.
That thing, which couldn't be taken to be a weapon no matter how much we looked at it, floated in a diagonal rear movement behind Bazett. Should we judge it to be some type of defensive Mystic Code against Servants? The crystal is floating around Bazett as if to protect her, while dimly shining.
"Begin fighting. Ready your sword, Saber. This time, my Servant and I will defeat you."
Leaving her Servant to the frontlines, Bazett steps back.
"....Huh?"
That's not right. Her combat style isn't supposed to be like this....
"...Hold it. Saber, that's-" "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" As if to wipe out my voice, no, to wipe out my voice, Avenger screamed an inflated war cry. With his malevolent short swords in reversed grip, he rushes at us.
"....! I'm moving in, Shirou, stay back...!" (Saber moves offscreen) Saber responds to the charge of the silhouette. With no time to stop them, the battle between the two Servants began.

Saber and Avenger. The battle between the two was more like combat between a warrior and a beast instead of a dance between swords. The warrior was Saber. The beast was Avenger.
The battle became a matter of attack and defense relying just on pure physical abilities, without Noble Phantasms or sorcery. The short swords of Avenger's were closer to fangs than blades. There were two of them. Two weapons with some major and minor differences, drawn to the left and the right, are pressing against Saber.
"Sha, haaaaaa!"
An insane dance of swords, almost if they were being thrown. If the number of attacks that Saber, with sword positioned, is one, then Avenger's is three of four. A beast that can't match her in strength, is attacking her with its speed.
(scene of Saber repositioning herself and a flurry of swords being blocked and repeated) That was, a one of a kind haunting scene. Avenger's speed is definitely not slow. Footwork to change its position like a blur, two fangs being swung without pause.
(Avenger's position being changed again)
This was a suicide mentality, as if he was frenzied from a fever. This was more than fast enough. But the next attack, and the attack after it, Avenger is raising his speed.
(clashclashclash)
"Ha, ha, ha, ha-!"
Eyes that are bloodshot. A throat that is in pain from the lack of oxygen. A body screaming that anything more than that wasn't possible. Ignoring all of that completely, Avenger dove into the battle.
Stronger. If this attack was blocked, then even stronger. More. If this attack was shattered, then even more.
His body has no limits. No, he doesn't care about his body's limits. That was,
A beast itself, one whose brain has deviated into a madness that cares not for destruction.
".....What?" I rub my eyes. ....That's this Servant's style? ....Murderous urge, steaming from him like vapor, is warping his appearance vaguely. A distortion, and the further fueling of the desire to murder, turned into a mirage and wraps around Avenger's body.
"Ha, ha, ga, hahi, hi, ha....!"
Avenger, clashing his short swords at a speed many times that since he started. The torrent of ceaseless swords, however.
All of them, were deflected by the blade of Saber.
Normally, a person cannot match up against large carnivorous beasts. But in this case, that balance was reversed. The one with the overwhelming advantage is the person, Saber. No matter how fast Avenger raises his speed, his swords won't reach Saber in the end.
From the start, there had been too much of a difference between their raw prowess. To Avenger, Saber would seem to be a rigid fortress made by man. Even if he fights with the readiness to destroy himself, to exchange death for overspeed, Avenger will not match Saber.
"GA-------AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"
The beast roars. Knowing that he won't reach her, he continues to charge towards destruction.
(sound of the wind blowing and Shirou looking off to the distance)
The reason why Saber focussed on defense was not because she was waiting for Avenger to burn himself out, but to see what was up their sleeves. ....There is a point behind this rampage. The enemy is also a Servant and if his basic parameters are low then what should be approached with caution is that Noble Phantasm. And so, she had planned to measure Avenger's power, but that was limited to this. Judging that Avenger had no trump card, Saber began her counterattack.
....However, what I'm cautious of is the Master. Just like me, she's monitoring the fight at a distance. She is an excellent magus. She ought to have means to support her Servant, but why is she still intent on monitoring?
What is that sphere floating behind her?
(back to the Servant fight, with Saber slashing)
"Ha....!"
Saber's sword flashed across like light. A flash that was handing over a requiem, one stating that no more of this rampage will be tolerated.
That sword, is entangled in his freakish short sword.
"....A swordbreaker....!?"
That sword is normally supposed to be used for that purpose. This wasn't a weapon that shreds, but fangs that restrain the attacker's weapon.
"Ha, finally caught you, brainless!"
He laughs derisively at the prey who fell in his trap. Avenger, whose left sword halted Saber's sword, brings the remaining right sword to cut Saber,
"...., Ha?"
With no trace, all of the fangs were shattered. The left short sword that held hers, And the right one that was going to slash her armor, Both of those, shattered into little pieces by one breath of Saber.
".........." Saber's sword, sliding down from above.
"WTFkindofMagicBurstisthatBitc-!"
He leaps back while screaming, but he won't make it.
"Gi............!" Even receiving fatal damage, the beast laughs deviously. This time, Avenger, without question, was sliced from the right shoulder down to the waist, Giving him a wound, close to instant death, that wound render him completely incapable of further combat,
"Gya, gaa, HIA, AAAAAA!"
"VOID" The False Copy of "A------Gi, GI GI, HIHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....!!"
"AVESTA.....!" Inscribed Creation
, activating his Noble Phantasm.
".......!? Ha, gu.....!?"
Saber, after cutting down Avenger, crumbled to the ground. ....Like a mirror. With no external wounds, Saber was grasping her shoulder just as Avenger bore a near-death wound....!?
"This is....a curse......a wound-sharing primal curse!" Saber is desperately keeping her falling body in place.
"Hah, as expected from a straightass Heroic Spirit. Quick on your head, eh. As you deduced so well, 'dis be the most simple curse in the world, one that only reflects a damaged wound to the other guy. Name is "Void Avesta". A third-rate Noble Phantasm worth the equivalent of shit that can't do anything until I get hit."
"Avesta....? Using the book of Zoroaster as a Noble Phantasm....!?" "Just a worthless copy, maam. ...Ok, so it's not exactly a two-time damage multiplying Scripture, but this one? It's got its perks. You get me Saber? The wound written on your soul, ain't going to be healing by regular healing. That pain isn't going to disappear until my wound isn't healed."
The silhouette snickers. While bearing fatal wounds, the Servant, having only several minutes worth of life left, is moving away.
"Yeah, still, thanks to that I've only got a few minutes left. On the other hand, you're not going to bite the dust from the likes of this. You'll be AOK as long as you don't move until after I die....but"
Bazett, who had until now been silently observing, moves. (sound of gloves being put on) She fits both hands with her leather gloves with total efficiency.
"....You don't exactly have the time to just daze off. If I were you, I wouldn't hold back. Master's not going to go easy on even kids when it involves work. ....Once you die, the next one's going to be that punk, get me?"

(sound of Saber jumping up) Energy returns to Saber's body. It might have been Avenger's taunting that did it, or maybe it was because she noticed me tring to run towards her.
(IA being released)
"....Do not underestimate me. Do you really believe just these wounds would be enough to stop me, Avenger?"
Saber's sword reveals itself. Two enemies, distance is sufficiently far enough. At this position, the church would also be mowed down, but it has already been confirmed that there are no people inside.
"Shirou, I request permission to use my Noble Phantasm....! Please hurry, the enemy Master is making her move...!"
(sound of Bazett's Fragarach activating)
The sphere floating behind Bazett is being electrically charged. I don't know what she's trying to do, but that magus looks like she's going to attack Saber from over there. ...But something like that. That's on the same level of using a pebble to attack a tsunami.
"....Saber, take care of it...! But try to do as much to limit the output....!"
The activation, was itself an instant. She had to hold back the output as well, but the deployment of the Noble Phantasm doesn't even take a second.
Once activated, that speed and force is in the greatest among the Noble Phantasms. In the point of pure power among Noble Phantasms, the only one that outmatches Saber's holy sword is the Sword of Rupture held by the King of Heroes. To have that fired directly, no human sorcery, no matter the kind, will be any match for it....."
"Ex...." Sword of
The golden sword being swung above. In the face of that dazzling brilliance,
"Answerer" That Which Comes Later Cuts First,
The magus let out a breath against her right fist, as if whispering to it.
"Calibur!" Promised Victory
A sword of light cutting through and vaporizing all it touches. And with that headstart, in a form that was obviously later than it,
"Fragarach!" the Sword of the Gorging War God
Bazett Fraga McRemitz's Noble Phantasm was activated.
(Fraga piercing Saber's armor and Excalibur's light being turned back)
A clank of falling iron echoes. Saber is still standing. But the landscape which should have been returned to ash, was still standing too.
"........."
Saber, whose posture was still in the posture of having swung her sword, was looking at the distant enemies. ....Without seeing the victory that should have been promised. She continued glaring at the dark empty sky in astonishment.
One hole in the armor. A minimum-sized fatal wound due to focused energy. A wound the size of a pebble, a black dot, the sort that is burned on film.
That is the wound that killed Saber.
".., Hot-..."
...I return my gaze to the enemy Master. From this attack, her glove were burned and dropped to the ground. Closing her brows from the pain, she licks the back of her right hand. Probably because the sphere was a one-use weapon, once fired, it had lost its grey color.
-Fragarach.
The short sword of the war god Lugh, told of in Celt mythology. In its legend, that sword would launch from its sheath without its user having to touch it, and would cut down those who oppose it before they could draw their swords.
Saber's Noble Phantasm which was used before it, and a light of sword which was launched later. The one that should have emerged victorious should have been Saber. But Fragarach was fired at a speed faster than Excalibur, and didn't just defeat Saber, but cancelled the light of Excalibur.
....That was, too unfathomable. It wasn't up to human understanding to discover what magical theory crafted this miracle. Only one fact can be processed from this. That Mystic Code was a match for Servant Noble Phantasms, enough to be able to cut them down from the front - the ultimate counter Code!
(sound of Saber's armor cracking and disappearing)
With no wound, no, while leaving just one small dot of a mark, Saber's body disappears.
....The magus is walking this way. I...couldn't move fully from the regret of losing Saber.
She is right in front of me. To be able to at the very least get one last blow on her, I grip my fist, "Huh?" The magus, went past me anticlimactically as if she had no interest in the likes of me.
"Wha------" I turned instinctively. Over there,
"Howdy, loser."
That black Servant was standing.
I was first ripped from the shoulder; my neck was then severed from the side by the blade being swung back to its original position. A rolling sound enters my eardrums. The ground is close, and I tumble over and over again.
"Pick a different partner and try again. Next time, try using someone that knows a bit about her trump card."
The black Servant was seriously giving me advice. It was as if he really wanted to kill her.
....Aaa, I'm blacking out. The moon is revolving like a skull.

It's a scene in F/HA, yes. If you check through this forum (translation section, what this topic is in) you'll find a bunch of other scenes translated similarly.
Willing to translate novel, doujin, games. Promised success on quality.

This event happens after you defeated Archer at night at the bridge. After that event, gone to the church at night with Saber and it will happen. (It's from my memory so I'm not sure if it is right or wrong)

What happens if you dont go to the church at night?
The story doesn't go on, is all. But F/HA is a looping world, so if you don't go, you can still go on the next loop.

Also why does saber have caliburn in that scence?
Caliburn ? that's Excalibur, check 1st pic of the third post. It even has the Barrier of the Wind King (what makes Excalibur invisible) activated in the screenshot in the second post.
Re: Hollow VIII: VS « Reply #11 on Feb 15, 2007, 4:12am »
And calibur isn't Caliburn. Caliburn is the golden Sword of Destined victory (shōri subeki ōgon no ken), Excalibur is the Sword of Promised Victory (yakusoku sareta shōri no ken)
